No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
December 23rd, 2015 by Deacon

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
