Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
