Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players around the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash rounds?
