Focus Attention on Annie Duke
March 3rd, 2010 by Deacon

Annie Duke mightn’t have earned her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until ‘04 but she is still one of the most powerful poker competitors around the live action games at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi low.

While players from the "younger crowd" of poker run crazy following a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mom" to her four children. Annie grew up in New Hampshire into a family of card players. If you don’t believe that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has succeeded at her share of demanding tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions. They’re both players that have the skill to win the big $$$$$ and do it with a grin.

Annie Duke is a strong competitor at any poker table because she is a legitimate poker player, but it is a bit more than just being good at the game. Annie Duke is surprisingly intelligent and graduated from Columbia University where she majored in English and Psychology.

When you sit across from her at the poker table you will see she is there to compete in the game and she begins "sizing" you up from the time you sit down at the game table. If you can not gamble like a Champion, then don’t bother.

Winning over 3 million dollars in tournament play, Annie Duke became a adviser to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who was looking to enhance his talents and develop into a force at the tables.

You might just see her at the Bellagio, you will notice her on TV and you may even compete against her in a net poker match, but don’t anticipate an easy win. Except of course you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it would be fun to say you played at the at the table with "The Duke".
