No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he enjoyed betting on different card games when he was young. He found himself getting very competitive in these card games as he was competing against his dad. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a little while and moved to New York to participate in some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first two years were tough as he played many hours and lost a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he possibly could better his game by adjusting his life outside of poker. He brought about an attempt to get more sleep and focus more on poker.

The definite advancement in his skills began when he began betting at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would frequently play against each other. Howard had access into a number of the foremost players in chess. With their help, he would hone his strategic thinking skills. He applied these strategy ideas to the game of NL holdem.

Howard Lederer also helped his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie was a great student of poker as she would consistently be asking questions about how to make the proper decision. He told Annie to move out to Vegas and compete in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker world today. He relocated to Vegas in 1993 and played cash games for the following 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to participate in more tournaments.
